Frequently asked questions

Is Mr.Road an official government app?

No. Mr.Road is an independent third-party app made by Citizen Apps. We are not affiliated with the Government of India, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, or any state RTO. We help you look up information from official portals โ€” like a smart bookmark that saves you typing โ€” but we are not the authority.

What happened to the e-Challan app I had before?

e-Challan is now called Mr.Road. Same publisher (Citizen Apps), same code, same saved vehicles. The Play Store listing was updated in May 2026. If you had the old version installed, the new icon appears on your home screen โ€” same app, new look.

Why does the captcha sometimes look wrong / I can't read it?

The captcha image comes directly from the official portal (Parivahan / state RTO). Sometimes their captcha is genuinely hard to read โ€” characters look the same in lowercase and uppercase, or the image is blurry. If you can't read it, tap the refresh icon for a new one. We're working on a feature to enlarge the captcha and apply auto-read assistance (planned for a near-future update).

I paid a challan but it still shows as pending. What now?

Payment data sometimes takes 24โ€“72 hours to update on the source portal. If it's been longer than 3 days, the issue is with the source portal, not with us โ€” we just display what they show. Please contact your state traffic department or the RTO directly with your payment transaction ID.

How do I check a challan for a vehicle I don't own?

Mr.Road only allows lookups for vehicles you have a legitimate reason to check โ€” your own, a family member's, a vehicle you're considering buying, etc. By using the app, you confirm you have the right to look up the vehicles you query.

Why is there an ad in the app?

Ads (served by Google AdMob) fund the free version of Mr.Road. They appear on Home, Notifications, and Payment History โ€” never on payment processing or account screens. We plan to introduce a Premium subscription in a future version that removes ads entirely.

Does Mr.Road support all Indian states?

Yes โ€” wherever the Parivahan portal has data, we can show challans. Some states also expose richer data via their own portals (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, etc.) โ€” we route to those when applicable. A handful of states have spotty data on the central portal; you'll see "No challans" even if there might be some at the local RTO. We can't fix what the source portal doesn't return.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, anytime. See our Delete Account page for the simple in-app or email process. Your data is fully purged within 30 days of the deletion request.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Email hello@mrroad.in with as much detail as possible (screenshot helps). We read every message.

I'm an existing e-Challan user โ€” do I lose my saved vehicles?

No. The update to Mr.Road preserves all your saved data โ€” vehicles, payment history, settings. You don't need to do anything; just open the app after the update and your data is there.
